Stress and burnout: A Prevention Handbook for Alcohol and Other Drug Services 2nd edition

NCETA is proud to release the 2nd edition of one of it’s most sought-after resources, ‘Stress and burnout: A Prevention Handbook for Alcohol and Other Drug Services’.

There is increasing recognition that workers in the Alcohol and Other Drug Services experience high levels of work-related stress and are particularly vulnerable to burnout. The handbook identifies key factors that impact on stress and burnout and provides practical strategies to help alleviate.

Co-author Roger Nicholas noted that ‘Our AOD workers are our greatest resource in treating the harms from AOD. An effective AOD workforce can provide accessible and high-quality services based on the best available evidence. Often, in these helping professions, there is an expectation to put the needs of others first, to work long hours, and to do whatever it takes to assist a client or patient. While the work itself can be a highly rewarding and satisfying experience, it can also be very demanding.’

The handbook debuted at APSAD22 where it was hugely popular amongst attendees.
